Anthony, I have a brush to clean any debris on the blade after each use. Then I simply use "motor oil" as suggested in the manual, to lubricate the blade. To date, I have no rust on my blade and therefore, have not use any solvent thus far. I know the manual also recommended the solvent, so you can't go wrong with that option either. If you have rust on the blade then any one of the products listed above should work for you.
